When Visualization Isn’t Enough To Reach Your Goals Try This!!

When you’re looking to reach your goals, so often we are told to visualize ourselves as we would be after reaching our goals. While visualization is a fabulous tool and is incredibly helpful, it doesn’t always provide you with the ability to embody that new version of yourself that you are trying to attain. While it may give you a glimpse at that future version of yourself, it often lacks the detail that really helps you to embrace all of your senses in that future YOU’s body. And it takes more than visualizing to feel a strong connection to the emotional shift that you will experience once you have reached your goals as that new version of yourself. So keep today I’m sharing a little exercise to help you start the process of opening your mind to who that version of yourself is. It doesn’t matter what your goals are, this is a strategy that you can do for yourself. By the way, professional athletes use this type of strategy when they are getting ready for a game. It’s not just seeing what’s going on, but a full immersion experience going through the motions and really connecting to all of your senses.

*If you want to go down the rabbit hole a bit more do a Google search about the power of the mind.

So today I ask you to take a few moments to get quiet and tap into your senses. What can you see around you? What are you wearing? Notice what people that are there. Where are you? What do you look like? Just take in all the details. Maybe there’s a feeling that shines through. Notice what people around you are saying about you and to you, all while envisioning this future version of yourself who has reached your goals. Once you’ve got a really detailed picture of what this would look like, see if you can step into that version of you and become aware of what it’s like.

Stay with this step as long as you’d like. There’s no limit here. For some it will take 15 minutes and for others, it might be a bit longer in order to create this amazing visualization and embodiment experience. Once you’ve got what you needed to, take a few moments to journal about your experience. Write down what came up for you and how it was the same or different from how you feel right now as well as any other thoughts or feelings that you experience.

Please share a comment about your experience once you’ve completed this exercise. I want to cheer you on and support you wherever you need it. But the only way I can do that is if I know about it.

Cheers to you reaching your goals!
