How To Choose The CBD That’s Right For You!
So you’re looking to try CBD, but you’re overwhelmed by all the options on the market. I gotta tell you, I know the feeling. CBD’s gained massive popularity in the last couple of years and it seems like everyone has some version for you to try. But just like essential oils, chocolate, pretty much any food on the planet, cars, or everything in life, there are different qualities to consider along with different types. And with so many different options, it’s no wonder you’re confused. So I’m going to break it all down right here so you can make the best choice for your needs.
Before I break things down I want to make sure we’re all on the same page about what we’re talking about. CBD is the oil that is distilled from the hemp plant and contains <.3% THC. So, if you thought CBD was the same as marijuana, think again. In fact CBD is not intended to produce a psychedelic effect, but rather to support the body.
How CBD is farmed is also something to consider. Before being banned, did you know that hemp was actually a plant that everyone grew. In fact, it was required by the government and it had some pretty fabulous benefits. One in particular is that it can purify soil by pulling it out of the ground. That means healthier food for eating, but if you’re making CBD from those hemp plants you could be ingesting toxins that you don’t want in your system.
Full-Spectrum - CBD that contains all parts of the cannabis plant. By law it must contain <.3% THC. The benefit to having all parts of the plant is that you get what is known as the “entourage effect.” This is what they call what happens when multiple compounds work together synergistically to enhance the effects of the CBD. So many people say this is the only option to buy because it gives you the best results. However, make sure you do your research, because if your full-spectrum CBD comes from a company that uses poor farming practices and grows their hemp in toxic soil, you could also be ingesting those toxins which could do your body more harm.
Broad-Spectrum - CBD that contains the same cannabis plant compounds as full-spectrum. However, unlike full-spectrum products, broad-spectrum products contain trace amounts of THC. You still get that similar “entourage effect” but those who are worried about even .3% THC, you won’t have to worry here. Again, make sure to do your research to ensure you are purchasing from a company that uses superior farming practices.
Isolate - Only contains CBD, without any cannabinoids or THC. Many feel that isolates do not have any notable effects because it’s missing some of the other compounds present in full or broad spectrum CBD products that create that “entourage effect.”
Smart Spectrum - Cutting edge option where you get the safety of the isolate and the effects of a broad or full spectrum due to the addition of essential oils which contain the terpenes that are missing from isolate CBD. Currently the only company offering this option is Young Living who has partnered with Nature’s Ultra. They use superior farming practices for all of their products and have their hand on their products from seed to seal.
Our family’s favorite CBD is the Smart Spectrum because of its safety with similar effects to broad or full spectrum. It’s the best of both worlds. There are so many options to choose from based on your needs or you can grab an assortment with the Starter Kit. You can check out all of the options HERE. My favorite is the CBD Joint + Muscle Balm and either the Citrus or Cool Mint CBD.
