Simple + Easy Homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Halloween is right around the corner and you know what that means…Halloween parties + tons of CANDY!!! But does candy really have to have the worst possible ingredients? We talk a lot about healthy swaps in our house and Halloween is no exception.

YES! Our kids go trick-or-treating and on occasion they eat the store bought versions, but we try to show them that there are healthier options out there that taste just as good, if not better.

So, here’s one Halloween tradition that I wanted to share with you because I know you’re going to love it and so will your kiddos without eating all the processed ingredients that creates inflammation and havoc in your body. Don’t worry, I’ll share another blog article about these ingredients soon, but for now, let’s get to the Halloween FUN!!!

One Halloween, I wanted to share Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups with my girls because, well, who doesn’t love peanut butter and chocolate? It’s a match made in heaven, right?!

So I did what every mom on this planet does when they’re searching for a recipe . . . a Pinterest search and couldn’t believe, I found someone else who though just like me. Someone who wanted a healthier option that tasted TO DIE FOR . . . so I gave it a shot and made them with my girls.

And let me tell you . . . they turned out BETTER than I could have ever imagined!!! As someone who has tried making the healthier versions of all kinds of foods and baked goods, I’m here to tell you these are 100% without a doubt worth the effort.

you’re someone who doesn’t have time or maybe you’re not much of a baker, then these are for you. PS, there’s no baking involved. They are fool-proof, I promise! Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Either a peanut butter cup candy mold or a mini muffin tin with mini cupcake liners so you get the ridges around the outside.

  2. Your choice of sweetener - the recipe calls for powdered sugar, but we use raw honey instead, for added nutritional benefits and a better calorie source. Because honey is sweeter than sugar you’ll also need less of it (approx. 2/3 of a cup).

  3. Your choice of chocolate - for traditional Reese’s you would use milk chocolate, but if you want a healthier chocolate I would recommend going with a dark chocolate. And if you have allergies in the house make sure you grab these.

  4. Your choice of nut butter - the recipe calls for peanut butter (Costco and Whole Foods have fabulous options), but you can substitute with any type of nut butter you like. We have used SunButter in the past. Note: You may need to adjust the honey contend for different nut butters that are sweeter.
