Fad DIETS vs LIFESTYLE SHIFTS: Which Wins Out When You're Trying To Lose Weight And Keep It Off?

We've all done it . . . You know, tried those fad diets that work while you're on them. But while they work, 99.99% of the time they are temporary fixes. Why?

  1. We use them as a temporary way to eat "healthy" before resuming our previous diet.

  2. We deprive ourselves of all our indulgences (pizza, chips, french fries, cookies, candy, chocolate).

  3. Then when we lose the weight we want to lose, we go back to the way we normally eat and the weight comes back and in some cases plus some extra.

UGH!!! All that does is leave us feeling defeated, depleted, and depressed. We've failed, but the things is, what you know about diets isn't totally true. They are essentially a bandaid to what's actually going on. Just like any problem when you don't get to the root cause, it festers and continues to grow. Sorry gross analogy, but you get the idea. When we don't deal with the real issue for needing the diet in the first place, all that happens is we stop ourselves from moving forward.

On the flip side we’ve got eating for a healthy lifestyle. SOOOOO . . . What exactly does that mean? Well, when we embrace a healthy eating lifestyle, we are making healthy choices that fit into our lifestyle. So what makes this so great?

  1. It leaves us feeling full, satisfied, energized, and overall feeling abundant.

  2. We begin to look at food as a way to nourish the body.

  3. The best part is that it become sustainable which means no more dieting while still keeping the weight off.

  4. We add in healthier foods that make us feel good, boost our energy, and keep our body healthy.

  5. This is done over a longer period of time when you are ready so that the shift in your eating habits happens as you are open to them.

With a lifestyle shift, we have the time to address the underlying reasons for why the weight was there in the first place. There’s time for you to get used to different types of foods and get into a routine that works for you before taking things to the next level all while going at their own pace. The point is this gives you options. And, if you’re someone who needs that extra kick in the ass, a little cheerleading and a tried and true system that has been proven to work, then consider investing in a health coach so you can get the results you’re looking for.
